#1: Book of Lies by Teri Terry
Ok so we all know Teri Terry for her famous Slated trilogy. But she wrote another (technically, MANY) great books after her debut trilogy.
So one of them i'm gonna talk about one of 'em today.
Book of Lies is about two sisters who didn't know they were sisters. One of them has the power to command the darkness and the other has the power to sort of destroy that power. They were sort of a...mistake. Their mother fell in love with their family's enemy, but because she was wearing a jade bracelet that prevented her from seeing the darkness in her enemy, she accidentally gave birth to the twins, Piper and Quinn.
So under some miraculous condition, they look EXACTLY alike, even their voices sound the same, until Piper's friends thought Quinn was Piper, and Piper's boyfriend Zak thought Quinn was Piper too. But the truth is because every lie they say is extremely convincing, to the point that they cannot tell truth from lie.
Also, there is this book called the Book of Lies, where every lie written will become a truth. Quinn was raised by her grandmother, while Piper was raised by their mother, and a fake father.
With that very brief description, I'm going to launch into a spoiler-y review on it.
So I loved this book. But I have some questions. Like, even when Quinn destroyed the Book of Lies, Zak still believed that she was Piper? It's kind of impossible, because before Zak supposedly accidentally kissed Quinn, he managed to tell Quinn and Piper apart. So that kinda suggests the opposite, but whatever, I still liked the ending anyway.
Also, I feel that Quinn's grandmother chose to keep Quinn not because she was the good one or because she would win but because she knew she could raise her to NOT lie and keep the secret and eventually destroy the Book of Lies.
As much as I love Quinn, I honestly prefer Piper to her. I think Piper's innocence was like, the bEST thing she ever did, lying to herself and everything, and I also admired her determination for the love of her life, honestly, but the thing that probably hurt most was when Piper died, and when Quinn burned the Book of Lies, she appeared as a hound, I'm pretty sure Quinn felt almost sorry for killing her sister and taking over her life.
Well ok obviously I'm terrible at this but...
JUST READ THE BOOK. It's epic. ;)
